Bonnie L. Sylvester

Children's book illustration is the perfect opportunity to combine Bonnie L. Sylvester's interests as artist and educator. Her lively and whimsical illustrations show the energy of line and the emotion of colors that speak to a child's imagination. Bonnie lives with her husband in Gloucester, Massachusetts. Their historic home in Folly Cove, where they raised three sons and welcome family and friends, is surrounded by a rock-bound coast and encircling sea. She finds inspiration from another 'Folly Cover', acclaimed American artist and children's book author, Virginia Lee Burton. Bonnie's fine art, displayed throughout New England, has garnered multiple awards. She was honored to be the Invited Artist for Once Upon a Contest at Cape Ann Museum where her temporary mural, a Cape Ann tableau inspired by The Tree in Dock Square, was a first for both the artist and the museum. She holds a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and Psychology from Lesley University and a master's degree in Human Development from Harvard University. As a docent at Cape Ann Museum, she continues as a lifelong learner fascinated by the beauty and history of Cape Ann.
